Lost, Not Forgotten

Nandawula Regine Kabali-Kagwa

I remember the freedom that used to dance along with your smile

The sweet cocophony of your laughter speeding through the air
In hopes of being heard by the stars

I remember how you made many hearts explode with fireworks
As they rumbled like drums and celebrated your presence
In hopes of reciprocating the joy you used to bring

Now the exuberance swung heavily to the tune of lonely silence
The playground as grim as your extended absence
Angry storms of your neglect fought against the fire in our hearts
Eliminating any elated noise, with the thunder of your silence

We still feel the subtle taste of your character within you
It still hangs onto the ice of your shoulder
In hopes of not slipping away
Completely
