Search Me, See me, Save Me

Tune: Serenity

('Immortal love, for ever full')

Psalm 139 parts

******

Where shall I go from your Spirit?

Each corner, it be lit

By your light revealing, and where

Is your presence not there?

For you be everywhere, no place

Where I cannot you trace

From highest heaven to deepest

Hell*, from greatest to least

Darkness shall no hide me from you

For dark and light, 'tis true

Are both alike to you, you see

All omnisciently**

You did make me when I was not

Yet born, favoured my lot

And more than grains of sand there be

Your precious thoughts to me

Search me, O God, and know my heart

Illumine every part

Try me and know my thoughts, and see

If any sins in me

And if there be so, me forgive

So through your grace I live

And lead me in way e'erlasting

Fulfilment this shall bring

--------

* 'Hell' here is 'Sheol', the Old Testament shadowy land of the dead.

** 'Omnisciently' -'all-knowingly'
