Hypnotic

Fay Slimm.

Hypnotic.

Oh silvery snake, the day
I stroked your
quivering throat, felt the
strong pulse
within muscular dryness,
hung your long
weight around shaking
scared shoulders,
stood while your carers
draped my hair
in your slithering mass
and when ears
heard a whisper of hiss

I felt how hypnotic

my reptile experience.

I shall ever
recall the primitive aura
gilding your skin
with glint in cold eye yet
warmth of coat,
the closeness we shared
in those few
awesome moments until
as you quietly
wriggled free I, breathing
again normally

felt the beguile instantly

of sinuous beauty.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Am giving this piece another airing for someone who did this quite recently - -- the picture is not of myself or of the one who felt the smoothness of snake wrapped around the neck.

I remember this read, a recent write
    right? lol
    and yes, snake's be everywhere
    definitely worth a re-share...
    thank you, dear Fay
    (just glad you're free
    of their poisonous, dead weight
    sorry for your troubles
    stay Strong!)

Yes a intriguing subject is snakes but from experience I was amazed at the skin-warmth I felt the day I met one face to face on a beach near here - with its long-time owner I hasten to say.

        ahh forgive me, dear Fay
        I read this poem wrong..
        lol
        personally, I'm scared of them
its the sliding movement, i think
although I have never held one
        (doubt I can...)
        lol

        Good write and pic Fay.

Yes I thought that picture was worth a thousand of my words - snakes are warm to the touch.

To come in actual contact with a snake (and I don't mean bitten by one) is a very different experience to expectations. You captured that beautifully, Fay. Thanks.

Ah thanks Dave - - it was an unforgettable few moments for me when I stroked and handled that massively long bunch of writhe.

            A fine write, Fay.
Girls and snakes. My daughter had one as a pet and carried it around in a bag. Would bite anybody but her.

OOoooh - hope it never went gliding out of your girl's bedroom and slithering around the house at night Jerry - -- just the thought of one settling in bed with you - - - eh ?

            • Morwenna

I really enjoyed that vivid, tactile description.

Thank you Morwenna - am delighted you enjoyed my tactile exchange of bon-jours with a huge snake - - what awed me most was his pride of presence.

Wonderful words Fay, it is mesmerising to see snakes.
