Tune: Highwood
('Hark, what a sound,.....')
Psalm 119 v.1-10
********
Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk
In the law of the Lord, of His way talk
Blessed are they that keep His testimonies, they
Seek Him with the whole heart, and to Him pray
They also do no sin, they walk in His ways
The Lord has commanded us in our days
To keep His precepts diligently and sure
My ways direct to keep your law e'ermore!
Then shall I not be ashamed, when I respect
All your commandments, Lord, here me direct
I will praise you with uprightness of my heart
When I have learned your good judgements, each part
I will keep your statutes, Lord, do not forsake
Me, wherewith shall a young man his way make?
How be clean? 'Tis by unto your word heeding
With my whole heart I seek you in each thing

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 11.10.11.10. format. I find the hymn a bit confusing, even from the start - 'Hark, what a sound....' but it seems it's too divine for humans to be able to hear it. (Doh!).

I don't like labels but I'd have to call myself an atheist.
But I went to church for many years, decades, and do miss it.
Thanks Blue. You might not be an atheist, if you call yourself that ONLY because you are not at church. That would be like saying just because something is in the garage, it does not mean it's always a car.
I\'ve rather reversed this. I meant - just because someone is church, it doesn't necessarily mean they are a believer!
Do shut up now, Orchi, says my imaginary talking dog Fido! lol. (He crops up on this site).
good. one Orchi
Thanks Gold.
I dunno why but I kinda missed my daily helping of hymn poem while away Mr. O .....................Neville 🙂
Thanks N. Doh! You didn't miss me singing 'em though? You had your earplugs in, you say?! lol.
I find the hymn in the clip a bit confusing in its wording. How can we 'hark' if the sound is supposedly too divine for human hearing?!
The author was involves in psychical research, so a bit spooky. Thankfully he did not write many hymns. Phew!
