False Prophets.

Chris Duffy

False Prophets.

Self appointed numen of all races, when will we stop looking to the stars?

Those who dwell within you, those whom you condemn, shed their blood in war and wear the scars.

Theology promotes your paranoia, designed to make you question your beliefs.

Why does peace depend on being warriors? You cannot live your life avoiding grief.

You’re looking to the sky for your atonement, searching for protection from your fate.

Your preaching love and peace to those around you, all outsiders subject to your hate.

Tribalism is our chosen doctrine, It seems the only righteous thing to do.

We never stop to ask ourselves the question. Do our enemies love their children too?

In your mind you build yourself an order, one that puts you firmly in command.

If there is a God somewhere for us to worship, why are you the one who guides his hand?

Surely divine teachings can absolve us, exorcise the ghosts we hold within.

You cannot hold the answers to our questions, cannot  judge the nature of our sin.

Viceroy, governor, you give yourself a name.

Ruler, executioner, grand master of the game.

Why do you seek order and control?

If seeing is believing and anarchy not freedom, then who made you the guardian of my soul?

The opiate of the masses as Karl Marx  once declared

Whilst wading through our poverty and smoke

Designed to keep you stifled, subservient and  scared.

Life is now and death’s the cruelest joke.

Theocratic orders ruling by decree, dictators of the souls who follow you

Open up your mind and surely you will see that Darwin would propose a different view.

Seeking your forgiveness, reflecting on our sin, believing you will lead to heaven’s door.

We never stop to question throughout our wretched lives, that perhaps our only sin is being poor?

Chris, I often have trouble reading pieces more than three to four stanzas long; I had none with this one - It's truth shines through.
Only issue for me would be that some folks do need (not I) a belief in life after death and the easiest reinforcement comes, for most, in organised religion. Good luck to those individuals, so long as their beliefs do not impinge on my life.
    Many thanks.

      Good morning Dave.

Many thanks for your comments which are gratefully received this morning.

I’ve received some less than complimentary feedback on another web site.

Why do religions people enter into open debate and then take it all so personally?

Our forefathers died so that we may express an opinion without malice, continue to learn from the feedback and grow.

So most sincerely this morning thanks because I’m feeling a little bit beaten up.

All the very best to you.

Hi Chris, a super write! Enjoyed reading it and totally agree…

          Morning Tallisman.

Thanks for the kind feedback it’s gratefully received.

On a different site I kinda touched a nerve with some folk, which is surely what it’s all about.

I don’t like upsetting anybody, but why do some take it all so seriously?

I respect the views of anybody with or without a faith because I was brought up to do so. The older I get, the quicker my transformation from agnostic to atheist.

My best regards to you and yours.

Hi Chris, I guess some people have a very narrow focus. I had a bit of a dissing on another site in a similar way and to be honest it really upset me so I quit the site. Really I should have stayed because it kinda comes with the territory. Live and learn I guess. Sometimes you have to say it as you see it!

            'they wrote, Adam
            never knew he was naked
            till that illusion of naïve
            innocence
            was taken from him..
            we too, dear Poet
            don't recognise, we're
            'Poor'
            till, fate rolls a Ferrari
            in our face..
            before then, before
            we
            stared at those model
            posters
            we, thought we
            belonged
            just, like everyone else
            only recognising, our
            ragged teeth
            when, strangers - shunned
            our smiling happiness...'
            ('they'
            make us feel, like
            we don't belong
            the minute, they start
            to make us compare
            and compete
            with those by our sides
            because
            we feel, too - removed
            from having the capacity
            to compare and compete
            with the Ferrari's and Models
            and saintly, mirage existence's
            of the world)
            it takes knowing, realising
            that, not having
a Ferrari or looking like a model
            is how 'imperfectly : Perfect'
            nature, meant us all
            to be
            and that's just, fine..
            when
            we can, scrape away their
            manipulative veils
            and recognise, the veracity
            of our worth, then
            it's all so easy
to see their tricks and games
            and appreciate
            the freedom, afforded to those
            who choose
their own, fated paths in life..
(thanks for sharing, a great read
            dear Poet)
            'theology, just one
            of their methods
for division and hate, to fuel
            our segregated, mindsets'
            we must overcome
            gather, as one
            and heal each other
so we can end their cycle
            of inherited, tribalism
            it begins, when
            we empower ourselves, to forgive
            and choose, Love
            over, anger and revenge's
            righteousness..
            for They, will forever Win
as long as we choose to indulge
in indignant fury and wage wars
for battles, that can never be won
            while humanity's divisions, run
            crimson
            in the annals of Time...

Wow! Thank you for the kind comments.

It didn’t go down well on another site, so this sort of feedback is welcomed.

              Take care my friend.
