Fifty-two years learning
The value of a paycheck
Nineteen-seventy so long ago
The changes in myself to reflect
That it’s not just about
How much money I made
But was the work I did
Worth what I got paid?
To know I earned my pay
And every dollar I deserved
A paycheck bearing my name
For a forty-hour week served
Seems these days
Do as little as possible
And still get paid for it
The new acceptable
As if having on the job fun is
More important than customer service
Is playing with cell phones work related?
Or am I just a foolish purest?
I’m trying to understand
Reasons of hypothetic
An ever-expanding generation gap
Or definitions of work ethics
Maybe the time has come
For this old dinosaur to retire
Hang up the work boots old man
Kick back with a sunset to admire

Remember, whilst the youngsters are on their phone, you've put a day's work in. Imagine if you retire tomorrow, the company would fold.
Thanks Paul. It just irks me that so many of the younger generation want money from a job, but they don't want to work for it. I'm seeing a whole new work ethic that would never make it in the world I was brought up in. And if I retired tomorrow the company wouldn't even notice. Where's my sunset? 🤔
Ohhh, maybe not a dinosaur.
A couple of old fogey true tales:
A wifey called her hubby a dinosaur, as he would not use e-mail! he was not even old, age about 50. lol.
One said 'Oh, I dunno about using the Web, with that "daemon" domain. It might be haunted!'
Well tell me Orchi, you were working in 1066, how's retirement going for you? 😁
