Awakening

MendedFences27

Awakening

She arrives at the tender dawn.

Her breath is the summer breeze across his face.

Her body is the warmth of streaking sunshine.

Her face is in his thoughts.

Yes, she is watched with love

though she is not there.

Last night generated his heated recollections

but remembering her soft white skin

brought him shivering desire.

How many times has he called her name?

Dreamed of her presence?

Longed for her skin to be touching his?

How often has he dared to beckon her

from her grave, beyond?

Does she hear him?

Can she sense his need

for making love with her

as they did while gentle music played?

At times he looks into his mirror

and sees himself growing old.

What he was when she first knew him

he can never be again.

Life is now a wasted notion.

Without her, “Love” is but a sad refrain.

The Sun has left his sky.

Clouds are ever present

And he cries,

“What the Hell!”

“Let it rain!”

Tender Dawn, Summer Breeze, Streaking Sunshine… You made me feel your words. You drew me into your raw emotion until at last I sat and watched it rain with you. Thank You for sharing your gift.
