Goodbye Furry Friend Minnie!

Fido gives a howl in sorrow too

One guinea pig poorly

Best to put her to sleep, we decided

 

Fido tells me about guinea pigs - 

He says they live about 5 to 7 years

We had that piggy, Minnie Marmalade

For over 3 and half years

 

They run about their cage

Even hours after giving birth

But they can get lumps and bumps

Outside and inside

And usually go downhill quickly then

All of a sudden sometimes

 

Such a pity, as one could not tell Minnie was poorly

Except for a lump on her back

Patient piggy too

A vets - cheap - but 'nasty'

Messing us about somewhat

Cancelling an appointment

Prolonging the agony - 

Operate, or put to sleep?

 

Had to go to a better vets

Of course, no one WANTS to lose a pet

Or put them to sleep

As if they were unwanted

And true pet-lovers

Would NEVER leave a pet at the vets as unwanted

They would always collect them

 

Goodbye furry friend Minnie

      Thanks Neville. We weren't helped by one vet - they were unwilling to do some treatment. We had problems with them before. They used to be good in the past.

          Dear friend, such sad tidings. When my children were young we had guinea pigs. They were the sweetest, most delightful creatures and I just loved them. Your Minnie Marmalade had a wonderful life with you and Fido, and I know she will live on in memoriam.

            Sorry for your loss., but all life is short, even at sufficient distance, ours......

              Thanks Dave. Late middle-aged for a guinea pig, I suppose. She was age nearly 4, and they live 5 to 7 years at most.
