No Mercy on Mean Street

Neville

No Mercy on Mean Street

If you let me live

you

can have my wife

and

take the money ..

I am

sure that’s what

he said

as the cable ties

were

each applied to

both

bruised hands

and

bleeding feet ..

But

then, at the end

of yet

another long day ..

Does it

matter now, at all ..

Maybe

they did not hear

his plea’s ..

Or they misheard

and simply

did not care that

much ..

But now though

friends,

it seems ironic and

absurd ..

They took them both

then

killed him anyway ..

    Brilliant!
    dear Poet supreme
    what empathy, you posses!
(every time, I read of such horrendous travesties
I can't help remember, how close Anne Frank
    and her family
    were, to surviving
    and then
    one vial human's betrayal, later
    a father stands
a sole survivor, in that same
    hideaway
    and I imagine, he's thinking
    'why me'
'why do i get to survive'
'what justice is there, in that'
    ...
sometimes, i can't help but fear
    the cruelty, we fallible humans
    posses
    far, outweighs
    our potential for goodness
    or even, decency..
    but
I can only hope, i'm wrong
    a featherweight, hope
but still, enough of its ambers
    glistening
at that dawning of a new day's
    promise
gifting me, a path in life
    to consume
    such devastatingly, heart-breaking
    stories
    and still, choose
    to believe, and hope
    somehow)

war is good for absolutely nothing .. and certain acts, so often carried out in the name of it make me feel ashamed of my own species .. your understanding & support are much more than merely welcome Fay .. and I truly thank you for it ... x

        A pitiful state
        Merciless goons
Leave the duo in hapless state
A road to travel became the last journey or so
This recount gave me shrills but it is true tale of the society that lives
That horrendous part of humane which lost its humanity
        So well deceived dear Neville…

            • Bella Shepard

The impact of addressing this subject of horror in poetic form is truly masterful. It's not just a story on the evening news, but an expose of the darkest side of human nature told with feeling. Well done dear poet!
