Fire Drill

AuburnScribbler

Welcome to the flame, where stupidity is shame,

certain mortal gods will say, they are not to blame,

but listen to those crying, in both Spain and France,

be more judicious, if you wish to prolong your dance,

let us the walking rainbow, of many, many colours,

endeavour to keep the hate at bay, and be better lovers.

Those who are friends with Helios, please do not gloat,

as when it comes to the crunch, we are all in the same boat,

to my ginger brethren, I think you know, what I will say,

all our clichés, will be tested throughout this day,

our tempers, our desires and of course our fair skins,

please brothers and sisters, rein in on those sins.

With this, I am not saying, do not maintain your smiles,

all I am saying is, make your time more worthwhile,

do not adopt the thinking, of the insulting elected,

for you will reprimand yourself, and become self-dejected,

this is a challenge, a test, of which the blaze could kill,

thus, I implore to you all, behave in this fire drill.

Such a wise, cautionary and well penned write. The sad thing is, there will be little satisfaction in saying "I told you so" when we're all roasting together. Keep the faith alive, and just maybe we'll survive.

Thanks for the read Bella, and yeah I do agree with you, "fools will be fools" and all that.

I will do, you do the same, and I hope that all is well!
