MY OLD EAST END !

MY OLD EAST END !

I was born and bred in this place,
A different "Manor" way back then,
We could leave our doors wide open,
         Returning safely home again.
Yes, there was crime about in those day's,
But not those nasty personal attacks,
The "East End" was all good neighbour's,
And those two R's both had our backs.
When they were jailed for thirty years,
         Crime spiralled for the worse,
         Like raping real old ladies,
         While ripping off their purse.
Police could not control the crimes,
As The Kray's had done before,
Where you never crapped on your home turf,
'Coz you'd have your kneecaps done or more.
The Kray''s weren't no angels, or older brother Charlie,
Gangland world, was a battleground, just for rival crew,
That's why the "East End" just accepted them,
Along with doting mother Violet too.
Some say that they were just thugs,
And to their "Manor" it must seem,
But they all had the grandest funerals
The "East End" has ever seen !

Thanks for giving me a fresh perspective on where I and my ancestors came from (left when I was six).
