Final Breath

Harrison03

Long, harrowing corridors connect deathbeds like dots
in each resides a man awaiting his final breath -
unsure as to which will be the last.
The sickly smell of iron pervades the air
filling every nostril within reach
it poisons the brain, forcing it into despair.

They are alone, yet voices fill their head
voices telling them the end is closing in
inundated with a sense of gloom and dread.
Many thoughts intrude the mind, "Forgive me Father, for I have sinned."
"I wish nothing more than to have lived a good life instead."
Some may ponder the meaning of it all
the meaning to live and the meaning to fall.

When the clock of life strikes midnight
and the biological coda concludes its act
all thee desires is to be remembered on thy virtues
so treat all as equals and leave a lasting impact!
