Love's Lifespan

Love’s Lifespan

How long will our love last?

Can it be measured by the sand within a glass?

Or by rivers carving mountains?

Or by starlight from the past?

Are we meant for each other?

Or just two ships drifting apart?

Will we soon be lonesome once again?

Or will our love take heart?

Do we dare enough to find out?

Have we the courage to give it a try?

Can we share enough to ease the doubt

and love enough to endure each goodbye?

When one of us is down will the other lift them up?

Can we stay on the same pathway and not get lost?

When the road gets rocky will our love be enough?

Can we be happy without becoming star-crossed?

The answers lie within our minds.

If we each love the other more than ourselves

then we can defy the odds of life’s grind.
