Think On These Things

('Oft in danger, oft in woe')

Philippians 4 v.7-9

**********

What things daily think upon?

Grow more Christ-like as God's Son

Think on things true and honest

Noble, so you shall be blest

Things just and pure and lovely

These shall be satisfactory

Things of good report, and see

If there things virtuous be

And if any praiseworthy

Think of these delightfully

And things which we have here learned

From believers, be not spurned

What we have received and heard

From them, even each good word

And what we have in them seen

Of Christ, freely do, not mean

So the God of peace shall be

With you here e'erlastingly

His peace keeping hearts and minds

Through Christ Jesus, each one finds

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 7.7.7.7. format. The thing I'm thinking of right now is whether to sing again. A threat or a promise to ya from me?! lol. It's neither lovely nor virtuous, nor any of the things in the poem. heehee.

You remind me of how often people act before they think these days. It's good to exercise the brain, as well as the body. Good write my friend.

Thanks Bella. Did one say somewhere (who?): 'Engage brain before opening mouth'?! Oh, from Proverbs 15 v.28 I discovered.
