Epitaph for a PC

Doggerel Dave

Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave
Not absent - still here!
Keep Calm and Carry On Poeming. 😂

My PC carked it before me,

Which just remains a big surprise.

But I was here and felt lonely:

A new one? Not the best of buys...

Skipping over data transfer,

A painful business with some loss -

Windows Seven and I can’t confer

Plus this also comes with some cost.

Learning that Windows Eleven

Is far too complicated and

Doesn’t satisfy like Seven,

Left me ready for a refund.

However, I must persevere,

Rectify error as I go;

Else I will not contribute here -

How can you do without my flow?...........(man at the back)… “Easy”

OOoh I know how you feel Dave - naked without means to cover your page with a poetic offering when your puter gives up the ghost. - - been there myself of late..... hope all is sorted by now with more know-how on windows etc.

    • Doggerel Dave

Thanks Fay. The only redeeming aspect to all this is that I have access (if I try really hard) to both Google and Outlook email. But even so , the clicks usually don't go direct but ask for other detail... Still, early days.... (only second)

Unfortunately having worked in computing I know that there are only two types of computer - The Prototype and the Obsolete.
Good luck with Windows 11, I am sure you will get used to it one year. LOL

Thank you Andy. I'm sure your response was done in the spirit of support and had the very best of intentions...…

It did not however prevent my neighbor from calling as they heard me sobbing and bashing my head on the keyboard...

When I was working in computing one of my colleagues who was one of the best in the firm picked up his screen and threw it against a wall!

That shows the difference between software and hardware, you can hear hardware when it hits a wall!

Love the fact that they promise new and exciting changes in the near future.... Cannot go on - exhaustion and frustration supervene.

I will recover, sometime I expect.

Gosh, D.D. It's a known fact that a new computer is like a new girlfriend (you know, the one that's taking up so much of your time that the wife is getting suspicious). Just hang in there and you'll eventually learn the ins and outs and will fully understand it, just like a woman.
We've all been there. My last time was a disaster.
Your poem made me chuckle, more than my computer ever did for me. LOL - Phil A.

Phil, I do hope I have a little more success with this beast than I have sometimes had with........... Discretion forbids......

Soon as I see the word, ''Update'', I just know the mountain is coming down on me.

Not just one, a whole range, sometimes.
Thanks for the call - it is absolutely essential at this time to know I'm not alone....

Oh dear. This is why we migrated from 7 to MacOs all those years ago. It's simpler and sleeker, granted minus bells and whistles but truly a saner way without hells and hassles. Our cry is there for the independent group of techies to put together a people's computer outside of the big three (however many they may really be) and allow us all to get on with it.

                • Doggerel Dave

Aah - from your other comment. Now I see.... I think that with hindsight that is the road I should have taken - many years ago. Now? too fixed in my ways, and a change at this time just is not feasible. Your advice, however deserves greater circulation than tacked onto the end of one of my efforts...
                  Thanks for the visits.

Yeah mate, it was a painful and time consuming transition for us. And as we used both platforms simultaneously during the transition period and that consolidated the resolve that changing over was the solution. We also had the parallels which runs both microsoft office and apple apps in the one device. But what I can see in hindsight is that we make our own path in the proverbial 'desert' and suitably get to the aimed for destination.
