hoops

dusk arising

Call me thick or something but
it can take a while for me to
realise or analyse a situation
and now looking back i can see
a relationship which was hurtful
for me has actually done me
a lot of good turns.

Living with a widow in her daughters home
i was felt i was continually being repressed
treated like a temporary glitch in their lives
and whose lifestyle and opinions were there
to be corrected and overruled.

Why you might ask should anyone
tolerate such treatment - but that
would be to ignore the part of me
which loved the company of this
same aged attractive woman
oh yes there was definitely a spark there.

Looking back i realise it's done me such
a lot of good because it taught me to be
proud to have my own style, needs and desires
and now anyone who would try to undermine
or negate these would not enjoy my company
for very long.

At the end of the day i realise life has once
again taught me a lesson. Taught me to
love myself for the thing that I am.
Simple huh? I thought I had learned that
long ago but had I really?

Well, anyway life, you old chump, through
experience you certainly taught this old dog
about a hoop that it is pointless to try to jump
through. Who needs hoops like that anyway?

To be treated as an animal is horrible. It should never be done to some with your talent. Thank you for sharing. 🙂

The old saying "Hindsight is 20/20" is true when we learn from it, and that reflection can often times change our lives in so many good ways. Here you are clear eyed and empowered. Kudos my friend, a great introspective poem and a joy to read.

We all have things that happen in our lives that show us who we are d a. You are now the person that you were aiming for in your life.
