Looking for stars !

Justa_Geezer

Hank got out his telescope, one Friday night to view,
The heavens in all their bright and majestic glory,
Maybe to discover something out there that was new.

He really should not have done, already feeling a bit tight,
Drank several beers a little earlier, plus a nip or two,
He was bored and high on adrenaline, he'd played a gig that night.

But while setting up his tripod, and mounted telescope,
Then looked up forlornly toward's the heaven's up above,
Gazing through his equipment, left without one shred of hope.

Indeed something new had occured, 'twas black as the ace of spades,
What on earth then had happened tonight, he did not have a clue,
Looking to his three best friends, to solve this weirdest of charades

All four then searched the heavens, to see why this phenomenon
Happened to them here now, and why this particularly night,
Could these four between them find the reason, why the stars were gone?

It wasn't just the stars though, the moon was gone from view,
Their eyes moved from the heavens, and looked upon the ground,
The stars were laying spread around, as the moon was too.

The stars it seems had fallen, Upon uneven ground,
There could find no reasonable explantion why though,
Hank and his three mates, thought this was very profound.

They had a few more drinks, then they all drifted off to sleep
Yet another full house venue sold out by them that night,
Another gig tomorrow night, important that they keep.

Coming round about five hours later, all their proper sleep they'd missed,
Seeing all the empty liquor bottles around the hotel room,
With their latest gig over, they got totalled, well and truly pissed.

Later they remembered what happened, before they'started drinking,
They had tried looking through the telescope, with both lens caps still on,
Into deep and utter darkness, they had surely all been sinking.

Hank, Brian, Bruce and Jet composed this, and be sure it's based upon,
From that experience the shadows penned this "B" or flip side tune,
This cute short, sweet and silly tune, entitled, "Stars fell on Stockton.

Good words JG. The first album that I ever bought was "The Shadows" ,1961, it is the only album with the original line up of Hank Marvin, Bruce Welch, Jet Harris and Tony Meehan. Their second album "Out of the Shadows", 1962, had Brian Bennett who replaced Tony Meehan on the drums. I still have both of those albums!

Oh nice! I shall be revisiting their music and connecting the thought with the Fourth Wise Man. They all seemed to be looking to the stars. Thanks for sharing.
