Take Two Poles Josie
Take these two poles Josie
and take note too ..
For these ones are perfect
just like you
and our love is my darling ..
Take these two poles Josie
and I shall
build us a little house over
the porch
close to the sky somewhere ..
Yes, do take
these two poles Josie my love
and though we
may both be a long way up ..
I’m right here
beside you, should you ever
dare fall ..
Just be sure I will catch and
shall love you
for ever and always my little
turtle dove ..
Do take these two poles Josie

- Comment from author about the poem: before she passed & on so many occasions, my Mum would comment on the sound pigeons and doves would make when courting .. Take 2 poles Josie is what she said she heard .. I can hear it now too :)

When I go to the football today, I'll be listening out for the pigeons.
thank you Paul .. if you hear any, maybe you would let me know what they said 🙂
Not quite sure of this one, Nev (not an uncommon experience here..).
Josie, it seems was cajoled into hard dangerous work with sweet flattering talk... and then Mum gets the blame...
Alas, I'll never understand poets....
don't be so hard on yourself Dave .. the important thing is that you just keep on trying .. N 🙂
I'll try, Neville, I really and truly will....No one can ask any more of me than that.... 🙂
You're mum sounds like a very special lady, who appreciated the sweetest sounds in life. You have captured this beautifully in a tender poem of love. She taught you well my friend.
She was indeed Bella .. and I thank you so very much for noticing ........ Neville
