Peace In Music.

There was the orchestra before me,

An orchestra from many different countries

Not necessarily agreeing with each other

In the place from which they came,

But once they started playing

They became as one,

As the music came from their hearts,

Through their instruments,

Into the world around me.

Music is so powerful

It can bring everyone together,

Together in our bitter world.

Why cannot these countries be at peace

And send each other music,

Send music to each other

And bring peace, love and happiness,

Bring peace, love and happiness to our world.

  • Comment from author about the poem: We went and saw the Andre Rieu Maastricht concert at the cinema last night and the video shows a Ukranian soprano with a Ukranian mother and a Russian who was in the concert. Music can bring all together.

          If only the world could make music and not war. I've often considered music as a powerful force. It can, indeed, bring people together. I believe it would bring peace if countries' people had the choice and not their authoritarian despots. A well-spoken plea for peace through music. - Phil A.
