Just a Few Recollections
Well that
was not just any old
day now was it ..
It was long,
hot and golden ..
At least
twenty four carats
he thought ..
And the very same
colour as those
few freckles she had
lightly
sprinkled across
the bridge
of her nose ..
Like fresh spun honey
in sunlight
he thought ..
And as gold
as her hair once was ..
Not to mention
the smile on the face
of new parents ..
No that was
far more than
most definitely not
just any old day
he thought ..
And he smiled again
with affection
at all those fond
recollections
contained in that
torn,
well creased
black and white
photograph ..
The one he kept safe
in his wallet
for forty odd years
since his wedding day ..

A memory without remorse, Neville - the very best kind when it involves someone so special.

once smitten twice shy ... and so swoon too ............................ 🙂
Old crumpled photos can bring instantly back those golden days when love understood and a heart saw freckles as golden gems. An evocative read mon ami.
Then I thank thee both kindly and true, my dear lady Fay .. x
Wonderful memories Neville.
