We sat in the Garden Centre Café,
Drinking coffee and chatting,
When I glanced out the window.
And there was a toddler,
He was dressed in a fine hat,
A blue and white checked shirt,
And grey ‘grown up’ trousers.
He was looking all around him
With a look of awe on his face,
Pointing at things for his granddad to see,
A look of absolute wonderment about him.
This young lad, looking for answers,
To questions so pure.
The beginning of knowledge
To fill the fountain of youth,
So innocent in his quest for truth.
At what age does innocence leave?

A fine write Gold.
Thanks Orchi
what an absolute treat of an observation, and now, well wrapped for eternity in the safe hug of a poem .. Neville
It certainly was great to see Neville, such innocence.

Good and apt question your last line of delightful poetry raised Andy - - I too love the real and honest curiosity of a small child.
Thank you Fay, it is wonderful to see that curiosity.

Reckon socialisation buggers it
And it’s conformity which has the say
When individuality has to pit
Itself against others in the games all play.
The kid described with great truth there, Andy.
True words Dave but it is good to see that innocence even for a short while.

Such a beautiful description of the voyage of discovery for a young child. Life does seem to age us quickly, but I've found as successive grandchildren have come along, 10 in all, each time I have been able to relive that innocence through their eyes. I also love the video, a young man who takes his trumpet playing seriously.
Grandchildren are great fun, I have six of them.
Yes that trumpeter knows his way in the world.
