Tune: Abridge
('My God, my Father, blissful name')
1 Timothy 1 v.15-17
*********
For this cause I obtained mercy
Says Paul. and so it be
That in him first Jesus Christ might
Show long-suffering, 'tis right
To be a pattern, example
To those who also, all
Should after believe on Him to
Life everlasting, new
Now to the King, eternal He
Immortal surely be
Invisible, the only true
God, praise to Him be due
Honour and glory for ever
And ever, ends never
So we too saved, in us He shows
His mercy, each one knows

I am sure this is a fine hymnal poem 🙂
Thanks Neville. I can't help being a bit fogey, but one church would not sing any of my ditties. They said it was not where they were "at". 'Oohhh. get you,' I thought. I wouldn't have minded, but they would have their same 'choruses' about 3 weeks in a row, some a bit manky. I finally said goodbye to them. Bit of 'putting the tin hat on it' scene. Plus money matters which we won't go into!
Good one Orchi
Thanks Gold.
