September 8th 2022 !

Justa_Geezer

I was born in 1947, and raised as a subject of King George Sixth,
In Bow, in London's East End, with bomb sites from war conflicts,
There was rationing as I grew up, shortage everywhere,
Lasting till after I was 7, we learned to care and share.

American Independence Day, July 4th 1954, Yanks eating hot dogs,
Then on 6th February 1952 the old King went and popped his clogs,
As expected, his daughter, Queen Elizabeth 2nd. took the throne,
Under her rule this Great British Nation, has prospered and has grown.

For over seventy years she ruled, in her own special way,
All those years she served her nation, so very well, day by day,
This afternoon we heard the sad news, that she had breathed her last,
So today September 8th 2022, marks a huge milestone of my past.

With the new King Charles 3rd. on the throne, today just after tea,
In my life I've lived and served, under Monarchs totalling three,
Unless Charles don't make it, no other King is in my future,
Unlikely as it is though, he is eighteen months my junior.

Unless along with Queen Camilla,  he's unpopular soon,
Upset's folk and abdicates, and then becomes a green tycoon,
Supposing then, this happens, maybe I'll reach my new bench mark,
Live long enough to see King William 5th, as my forth  Monarch !
