Memories

nemophila

The past is something everyone reflects on from time to time,

it would seem that reflection is, in fact, its only purpose, its only reason to exist.

For what is the past if not a collection of things we let lay forgotten, memories we let collect dust until we decide to brush them off and share them around a campfire?

The past is something to be laughed at,

cried about,

bonded over,

until it becomes something promptly locked behind the gates of the present,

and left to collect dust until we want a trip down Memory Lane.

-

But the past could be more.

If one were to turn and look behind them, they would see the past, smiling and waving and pointing towards your future.

The past could be a guide.

The past could be a warning.

The past could be the key to everything present and future.

One just needs to look back.
