Love, Do Good, Lend

Tune: Sandys

('Teach me, my God and King')

Luke 6 v.31-35

********

What you would people do

Unto you, so do true

Unto them, this the golden rule

Living up to God's call

For if you love only

They that which love you, see

That sinners also love those, they

That love them, [and] for them pray

And if you do good to

They that do good to you

If only they, sinners do same

That promote their own name

And if you lend to they

Only who can repay

Sinners even do lend to have

Back everything they gave

But love e'en enemies

Do good, lend, seek to please

Hoping of no repayment, so

Your witness folk shall know

For your reward shall be

Great, last eternally

Children of God you shall be, He

Kind, acts impartially

Thanks Soma. Ignore our daft comments about 'teef'. Or join with them. lol. It's the alliterations I use in my poem titles often. Some say they have false teeth and can't say the titles. Us being eccentric! lol.
