If You Love A Dog You’ll Understand

My best friend in his fur coat

Smiles at me and then I note

His eyes twinkle with mischievous glee

He hears the turning of a key

And Woof! Woof! Woof! He yells at the door.

But in actual danger he’ll crouch to the floor.

A trembling mess, he’s such a wuss

He’s even scared of next doors puss

His strength shines through in different  ways

On dreadful, heartbroken, tearful days

He plonks himself against my chest

And loves me hard and helps me rest

He brings a comfort he’ll never know

I hope that he will never go.
