Rainbows over the union

Andrew Charles Forrest

Rainbows over the union

There were rainbows over Scotland

On the eighth day of September

Our shaking hands and love O’r lands

We shall a’fond remember

There were rainbows over Wales

That were born from our tears

You shone your sun upon us all

This past great seventy years

There are rainbows over England

It was no coincidence

We pray the love we showed to you

Was some scant recompense

There were rainbows over Ireland

No distant land today

Now in our hearts forever

Walking, with your strength and stay

Thank you your Majesty
