Cygnets At Rest,

Goldfinch60

As I walk along my river

There ahead of me sit a family,

A family of swans.

They are just resting,

Sitting quietly on the riverside,

Some cleaning their feathers,

Some looking about,

And some just asleep.

Such a beautiful site,

Dad just sitting there,

Sitting there with four offspring.

Such a wonderful site to see

And I was with them,

Watching them,

Nature in all its glory.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I have often seen these swimming in My River but it is the first time I have seen them sitting on the bank together, I don't know where the Mum was though.

Sorry about the picture being at ninety degrees.

How do you know that one’s Daddy?
Mum out on the razzle dazzle?
    Too many questions here Andy;
How does Your River run vertical?

    • Goldfinch60

I know it was the daddy as on their bills the is a profound peak at the beginning of it.

I've know My River to run over the road and seen swans swimming down the road.

      A lovely write Gold.

A wonderful sight to behold - swans are such a gift to our need for nature in these days of indifference to life.

      • Goldfinch60

They surely are Fay, thank you.

What a wonderful walk you must look forward to each day. You are indeed fortunate to behold such a beautiful sight. Maybe we can learn something important from those swans, just to stop and be at peace with the world we belong to. A lovely write my friend.

I am very fortunate to be able to walk by My River and see Nature at its most wondrous, thank you for your fine words Bella.
