Let Me Be

Bella Shepard

Let me look, that I may see

Let me touch, that I may feel

Let me smell, that I may inhale

Let me hear, that I may listen

Let me taste, that I may savor

Let me be, that I may live

A quintessential life

Wise words and good advice for everyone. I felt almost as if I were in church.

Thank you dear friend, so much appreciated. Now that I think about it, it does sound a bit churchy.

If I reach back into my very early childhood Bella, it does sound like a prayer. But the sentiments expressed are not going to be devalued by me on that basis. Should be every human's right to live that life....
Thanks for putting it so succinctly.

To be and in that capacity and right of being, unperturbed, uninterrupted and not interfered with in any way. That should be the way.

          • Bella Shepard

Thank you dear friend for your deep understanding, it should be that way for everyone.

The quintessential life is a definite, after that, all fits into place.

                • Bella Shepard

I so much appreciate your comment, and you are absolutely right. It is wonderful to have a place to share thoughts with kindred minds and hearts, it makes me feel there is always hope in this world.

The graceful parallelism in this piece calls to mind the biblical Beatitudes. The meaning, for me, goes so beyond though. Like it's apparently "simple" and "trivial." But there are so many out there who can't even experience the wonder it is to have all 5 senses. I'm enamored by your words as always, thanks Bella. Your poise is incomparable.

                  • Bella Shepard

My dear, dear Rocky, so good to hear your voice again. Thank you so much for your insightful comment, I am truly humbled. We go through each day guided by our senses. We take for granted what we don't have to think about, as we do so much in life. You struck at the core of what I was thinking. Be mindful of everything that comes into us each moment, and cherish. Thank you for the fav. Looking forward to your eloquence once again gracing MPS!

A perfectly postulated prayer, poem and would be panacea all rolled into what should be a single universal mantra .............. Neville
