Oh Please!

Doggerel Dave

Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave
Not absent - still here!
Keep Calm and Carry On Poeming. 😂

We have managed to get the balance right.

We’re called ‘pollies’ but parrots we are not -

Just an Antipodean short form;

We make the decisions – what have you got?

                          --------

”It’s the same the whole world over”

And easy to tell what’s to blame:

It’s vast disparities of wealth,

Plus politicians who play a game.

Sleight of hand with millions and billions that disappear and reappear with panache!

Thanks Rik...I did wonder... The head phrase is being rolled out with respect to the current debate - and I anticipated so much more...I'm sick, but why? I have been around long enough.

Those politicians are a force of their own making and don't care about those they allegedly serve!!!

        Got that right, Andy.

Hard times in the Old Country right now?

Hope some of those 'pollies' will read this lament and maybe through you Dave they change their ways. - - Well we can dream eh ? - Great read.

          • Doggerel Dave

Thanks for that, Fay. Unfortunately right now I seem limited to the odd daydream and an occasional shout on MPS...

Here in the states we have a variety of names for them, but they all seem to be cut from the same cloth. May we commiserate with each other, quite possibly for ever.

I'm always keen to expand my vocabulary (without the words, ideas remain unsaid).
Names similar or pollies similar or both? Yeh - trouble is it's all so predictable....

Politics has been a problem for some time. Plato wrote a book or two on it, back in the golden age of democracy. It didn't seem that he was much for democracy. He felt that a man should be selected to serve after being tested since childhood for complete honesty, trustworthiness and all that it takes to govern. He should be given housing, food, necessities, but no money and should he ever be found to have any put out of office and banished.

Oh for some philosopher politicians, hey? Thanks for introducing Plato into the debate - someone I knew by name only. Never did him at school or Uni, and not reading material I would consider reading in a spare moment right now. A shame.
Your phrase the golden age, which I always associate with the golden age of piracy (17 -18th centuries) has bought me to the conclusion that mine might be a pretty apt description for the political ethos right now.

Those in politics will say whatever gets them elected. Like what you have done here. 🙂

I liked the slogan. Put your trust is Truss. Now changed to. You chose a cunt in Hunt.

Are you an advertising exec. in your spare time?
Home politics must give Brits plenty of entertainment right now?
