Music For Love.

Goldfinch60

She came down the stairs,

The love of my life.

Came through the dining room door

Towards me,

And as she entered the music played,

Such a wonderful piece for her entry.

A favourite piece of music for her

And for me.

The Intermezzo played.

The Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana

Filled the room and enhanced us.

Enhance the love we have for each other

As she entered my life this new day.

Like she will every day of our lives.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I was sitting in the dining room in the early morning listening to music, reading and writing poetry a couple of mornings ago and as Mary came down stairs and into the room this intermezzo played and it was at the time the main theme started after the introduction, timing at 1:50 on the video, it was so meaningful.

Music can enhance many a moment
And add to satisfaction felt all round.
This moment added to the bestowment
Of each other’s love, now more closely bound.

Considering my general aversion to love poetry Andy, I however girded my loins and did the best I could……It’s the challenge, yer see… LOL.

Your challenge has been so successfully achieved Dave, thank you.

if that wasn't such a wonderful moment .. these words would not even exist ....... now there's a thought 🙂

Herbert, oh as a child I had this notion to collect all of his recorded work. I also wanted to name a fictive character in a novel or story von Karajan. LOL. But here you are at the 1:50 mark and could only agree. Thanks for sharing Andy!

Thank you Rik. I have many recordings of Karajan in my vast collection of music, all are wonderful.

Oh nice! Alas for me that is but a memory. A vagabond's life requires light travelling and all the records and cassette tapes and CDs are now gone in some place or other. I listen to him online these days.

I fell in love with Cavalleria Rusticana the very first time I heard it. It never ceases to make me smile and tear up just a little. This is truly beautiful dear Andy and I can understand the depth of love that it reflects.

I have seen Cavalleria Rusticana, it is a wonderful opera.

Thank you for your kind words Bella.
