In our lives we have values,
Values that we seem to need.
Many seem to want money
Believing that money will bring happiness
And take them to a fine place,
So they value it so much.
But in our life we have time,
And time is so important
As we use it to move forward,
Forward into a good life.
But what many do not realise
Is that time has more value,
More value than money.
You can get more money,
But you cannot get more time.
Treasure the time you have,
The time you have on this world.

Good write Gold.
From millions of years ago - my Primary School Assemblies. We had:
Daisies are our silver
Buttercups our gold
This is all the treasure
We can have or hold.
Thank you Orchi.
Blimey, that's a few years ago.
Andy
Thanks Gold. The hymn is by Jan Struther (1901-1953) so quite old. We had a lovely Christian headmaster, and his wife also taught at same school, in Primary School days. Where me singing began? So a dreadful thing to have happened! lol. Seh also wrote the oldie 'When a knight won his spurs'.
Somewhere in the backroom of memory I recall and wonder how buttercups are gold, and here it is in plain monitor light... oh wow... that's really paleolithic now...
Thanks CB. But why my fuss?! lol It's a comparatively 'new' hymn really. I was reminded the 'Psalm-hymns' date from about the 11th century BC.
You having and holding them daisies and buttercups? Not so a greedy church I know. Well, certain people in it. They may say 'Bah humbug - flowers? Give us ya dough!' (money).
Do you know Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs?
For Physiological and Safety,
Financial demands satisfied are the seeds -
Those which allow for time and satiety.
Get your dosh first, then you can afford the time... Got enough? You lucky...
How random, first thing I thought of was Maslow when reading the poem! And yes unfortunately a certain amount of money is essential in order to move through the hierarchy of needs!! But a lovely poem all the same
Yes -I'd agree with that, (obviously) all of it but especially the lovely poem (Andy's) bit - how Andy manages to put out something fresh every day is amazing! I haven't got that kind of inspiration. Best I can do, is follow him with a quatrain (my favourite form) in response.
Good old Abraham, took my mind off the pyramids of Khufu and Giza and gave us that hierarchy. What we value is what gives us value.... and money is after all currency and the value is only in its being exchanged from hand to hand.
Thank you all for your discussion on my few words.

If it can't be enjoyed, what's the worth in it? Good going Andy!
Thank you Rik, the best things in life are free and I enjoy all I come across.

Fine writing, Andy. Time is a fascinating word.
Thank you Jerry. Time certainly is a fascinating word and cannot really be explained.

I've always disliked the phrase "cost of living", because at what price? You can be paid an hourly wage for your time, but what you do with that time is the key. This is a timely and very thought provoking write dear friend, and I find it a definite fav!
Thank you Bella for your kind words, time is so wonderful to have in our lives, live every moment with joy.

A very worthy piece teaching the importance of time and how we should always value it.
Thank you bellflower, much appreciated.
