Field Into Lake.

Goldfinch60

I was driving along the country road,

The hedges each side.

On one side the hills climbed up,

The hills covered with trees,

The golden trees of autumn,

Nature’s palette at its best.

I drove on,

The hedges on the other side

Hiding the fields,

The fields leading to the river,

My River.

The hedges thinned out

And left me expecting

A sward of green pasture.

But no,

That pasture had changed,

It was now a lake,

A lake where swans and ducks

Swam with joy,

Swam in peace,

In peace and contentment.

Yes, the rain is usually wet! That might be a line from a comedy film somewhere.
Hope we don't have floods like a few years back.
Nice weather for ducks - and swans!

    • Goldfinch60

Yes I too hope we don't have floods like that Orchi. On that day I was still at work and my 35 minute drive home took four and a half hours!

You get your waders out and are content
That no snorkel by your river is yet
Required; those past days of contentment spent
      Remain with MPS without regret.

'Sorry I'm late; out for tea.

      • Goldfinch60

I hope you enjoyed your tea.

I daren't get my snorkel out, I would have to learn to swim first.

Such surprises abound on motoring jaunts! A favourite diversion of my wife and I. This poem brings good thoughts and memories. Thanks Andy.

Yes you can be surprised many times when driving.
Glad I brought some good memories Rik.
