FAMILY TREE

viv

Family Tree

Standing tall, against the sky

Stood the lonely Tree

Under old stars

Tree small and supple

Was circled by others

Heading their own direction

Tangled tendrils

Scratched then scarred

Sorely riven, Tree prevailed

Longing for light

Spreading its mantle

Tree tightened its roots

Compassionate leaves fell

On indifferent ground

The others grew stunted

But Tree’s sap rose

Resolute and reaching

For the heavens

On flitting wind

Nature’s network

Gently seeded the ground

With a new blossoming

Standing strong, against the sky

Canopy to canopy, was Tree

Heartbeat to heartbeat

Hallelujah,

And hallelujah

Tree, Said me

a lovely read, thanks for sharing
      and forgive me dear poet
I couldn't help but scribble a few words
      as an attempted poetic reply:
      (indeed, with each brave hand
we reach out to the world
we curate our life's anchoring roots
      plant, our seeds of hope
and watch-on, as those buds grow
from those tears of laughter or woe
      we share with each other
      watering and thus cultivating
our family tree of brief alliances
      confidences, treasured memories
      and if we're lucky
      a handful few, like minded
who choose to share their life with us
and imbue their worth, into our sense of self...)

Thanks L.B. Mek, and for your sensitive poetic response - nature has so much metaphorical imagery for artists, to help us to express ourselves.
