Tune: Ach Gott Und Herr
('Strengthen for service, Lord, the hands')
Colossians 2 v.4-7 parts
*******
In Christ hid all the treasures sure
Of wisdom, knowledge e'ermore
Beware lest any should deceive
You, and no false words receive
As you have therefore true received
Christ Jesus the Lord, believed
In Him, so walk and live, follow
Him the Way, Truth, Life more know
Be rooted and built up in Him
Not fancies of human whim
Be established in the faith, so
Your life His true witness show
Follow His teachings, what is taught
By gospellers to you brought
Abounding therein with giving
Thanks for a faith e'er living

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.7.8.7. metre in a series on Colossians. St Paul writes against 'syncretism', as in seeking to warn against synchronising all religions, i.e. all paths lead to God. He shows they do not.

Hello Neville if you are there! An 'e'ermore' and even an 'e'er' have crept in here. Have I lost the 'v' on me keyboard?!
And the beauty of it is not lost that truly desire to listen.
Thanks CB. As I say - have I lost me 'v'? lol.
I may be something of a heathen in some folk's eyes, me preferring to follow a Buddhist path & all that jazz ..
However, I would have thought if all conventional or known religions were synchronized around the globe, .. i.e having the same beliefs and values, but because of language differences, different sounding or looking words essentially having the same fundamental meanings, then the world might be a much more peaceful and understanding place than it is right now .. Neville 🙂
Thanks Neville. I can see, and believe, that there are elements of Christianity in other religions. I can't see St Paul being bigoted over it - he is fair about giving financially too. There is Jesus saying 'I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life' though. Then He goes to on to say 'No one comes to [God] the Father except through me'.
Some stern places will say 'Nay, ye heathen sinners; hellfire and damnation to ye' etc, etc! Certain guffs and wafflings!
Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
Good write John
Thanks S. Steven here. I'm not John the Baptist myself!.
