Tune: Veni Emmanuel

('O come, O come, Emmanuel')

Isaiah 52 v.7-10

**********

Emmanuel, God with us, come to earth

Glad tidings of a Saviour's birth

How beautiful on Zion's mounts

Messenger from whence springs blessings founts

Chorus

Prepare, prepare! The advent of the Lord

Is near, His second coming, true His word

There be proclaiming of the peace

Which the Lord brings without a cease

Good tidings of good things, mankind

Salvation in Christ all may find - Chorus

The word in Zion, God's city

Is, Your God reigns! for e'er, so be

Break forth into joy waste places

Of Israel and of all races - Chorus

For the Lord has comforted His people

Redeemed them and they shall not fall

He has made bare His holy arm

His strength which does save them from harm - Chorus

'Tis seen among all nations, he

The omnipotent God e'er be

All the ends of the earth shall see

His salvation, His victory - Chorus

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem with Verses in 8.8.8.8. and Chorus in 8.8. format. The long musical notes in each line allow for 10 syllables to be used, as I have done here in some of the lines.

Thanks N. lol. Yep, I might have met the gal, Ms Ticipation.
Will I make up my mind - is it 8 or 10 syllables per line? Or am I playing bingo with these numbers? lol.

Over the weekend the decorations began coming out of storage. The season is definitely starting up again!

Thanks CB though they unload a ton of bricks on my head if I mention Ch....... too early! lol.
I advised someone not to blue-tac (or white-tac) decorations to painted walls, but I was over-ruled. Oh well, enjoy re-painting the walls when the blue-tac tears off the paint, leaving horrid patches. Doh!
I was spared an horrific fate - not kissing Manageress under mistletoe!
