Tune: Gopsal
('Rejoice, the Lord is King')
Psalm 150
******
Praise, praise you now the Lord
True, faithful is His word
Praise God in sanctuary
His holy temple free
Praise him in the firmament, see
Of His power, the skies they be
Praise Him for His mighty
Acts, that all folk may see
Praise Him for His greatness
'Tis excellent, Him bless
Praise him with sound of trumpet clear
With psaltery, harp, praise Him here
Praise Him with timbrel, dance
Instruments to enhance
His worship, lute and lyre
Together all conspire
To praise Him, and on loud cymbals
Make high sound, song, His deeds recall
Let everything with life
Praise Him and without strife
Each thing that does have breath
Praise Him e'en unto death
Praise the Lord, great paean* ascend
He Lord of all, God without end

Brings back memories of a K class graduation 20 years ago now where the entire class memorised Psalm 150 and recited from memory during the graduation ceremony.
Thanks CB. you got that lyre out? The one you borrowed from me 500 years ago?!
That was my Lyre Orchi that you took from me!!
Doh! lol.
Good write and full of hope .
Thanks Fay.
🥰great piece my dear friend,
Thanks C4C. You got that tambourine out?!
HAHAHA,yep,if you do the singing, HAHAHA
In every poem, I try to understand your poem's format. What a lovely format I have ever seen! Great job.
Thanks Soma. The 'format' only means the number of syllables per line.
I stopped calling it 'metre' as that is more technical - accents on certain syllables, etc.
What better way to praise, than with joyful voices and music. No lyre or psaltery, but did have a guitar in high school, does that count?
Thanks Bella. Yep, guitar OK. I, being millions of years old, so I say, have dusted off me lyre and psaltery. Not that I can play them both at the same time! lol. Not that I've danced much at all (verse 3).
I do have a lute, a dulcimer & a mandolin I also have a pair of sinballs 🙂
Thanks Neville. You got a sackbut too? (a sort of trombone, it seems). That's in the Old Testament as well. I might swoon at sinballs. lol.
Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
