Day of Lord comes as thief in night

His return revealed to sight

When the world says 'Peace and safety'

Sudden destruction shall be

 

It shall be as woman birthing

Pain and toil for them it brings

But believers, not in darkness

They have light of Christ no less

 

And that day shall not overtake

Them, nor surprised, troubled make

The ychildren of the light, the day

Follow Christ the Life, Truth, Way

 

Not of darkness, nor of the night

But of day, having clear sight

Let us not sleep, but be ready

For Christ, holding faith steady

 

For they that sleep sleep in the night

And be drunken, have not light

But let us who are of the day

Be sober, prepared alway

 

Put on breastplate of faith and love

Help of the Spirit, the dove

Put on helmet of salvation

Which avails to each nation
