Tune: Little Cornard
('Hills of the north, rejoice')
Matthew 24 v.27-31
********
As the lightning flashes
From east, no abashes* (*reserves, shyness)
And even unto west
Let earth now be addressed
For so shall coming of the Son
Of man be, Jesus He the One
For it shall be as though
Where dead bodies are, know
That there vultures gather
Amid troublous stirs
And straight after tribulation
Christ shall be seen by each nation
Then shall sun be darkened
Moon shall not her light lend
Stars from heaven shall fall
Cosmic upheaval all
Powers of heaven they shall shake
Let us not sleep, but be awake
Then shall appear the sign
Of the Son of man fine
Then shall all peoples mourn
At Christ's return, then torn
Shall skies of heaven be, for He
Comes in clouds, power, great glory
He shall His angels send
Great trumpet sound shall blend
They shall gather the ones
Who believe in the Son [of man]
From the four winds, north, east, and west
And south, all with Him ever blessed
