Just A Shower.

Goldfinch60

So here was the weather forecast,

Apparently we had the occasional shower,

The occasional shower of snow.

That occasional shower did happen

That is if you believe it.

That shower started at six,

Six in the morning

And did not stop until four,

Four in the afternoon.

About eight inches of snow landed

And covered everything.

So if the forecasters believe,

Believe this was a shower

Goodness know what will happen

When they forecast real snow!

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is a follow up from my previous poem. According to the weather forecaster we only had a brief shower of snow today, I cannot remember the last time it snowed as heavy as this and for so long.

    It's awesome!
I just hope it's not just a muddy sludge by the 25th
(and now that we're out of the eu
they won't charge us a premium
when we inevitably run of salt and sand...)
but great memories for the covid generation kids
    i'm happy about that!
(a lovely read Andy, thank you!)

      Thank you Mek, much appreciated.

It's that thing: 'Some may think there's a hurricane tonight; don't worry - there isn't'. The famous October 1987 words.
Only about 10 more days then it starts getting lighter again.
They used a lot of grit for when it was 40C maximum in Summer - remember that?
How was weather in the Dinosaur Age for us two?

      • Goldfinch60

Yep I was in that non hurricane in 1987, it changed the countryside all around us in Kent.

        All snowed up?
        So I see….
        Need a cup
        Of whisky?

Don’t bother to send me that whisky you promised, Andy – you need it more than I do….

        • Goldfinch60

Thanks Dave, that whisky tastes fine.

Yup, round these parts we call that 8”
of partly cloudy on the driveway.
          👍🏼

          • Goldfinch60

Well its still 'partly cloudy' here John.
