Tune: Gloria (Iris)

('Angels from the realms of glory')

Isaiah 9 v.2-4

********

The people that walked in darkness

Have seen a great light, no loess

Than the light of Christ it be true

Son of God mankind may view

Chorus

A--lle---luya! Christ descends to earth

A--lle---luya! Appears now by human birth

They that dwell in land of shadow

Of death, on them light shines, know

They the coming of Messiah

To welcome Him they do stir- Chorus

You, Lord, the nation have increased

Joys return, though they had ceased

Now joyful as with harvest's yield

Or spoil of enemies field - Chorus

Yoke of burden you have broken

Where they were oppressed by men

And weapons of foes he removed

His faithfulness he has proved - Chorus

No one wants to be left in the dark, do they .. that's why we all pay our electricity bills & stock up on candles 🙂

Thanks N. You got them candles? There will be candle bandits, let alone bog roll bandits!

Another hymn that could fit in any church's hymnal. I am always reminded of darkness and shadow this time of the year in this hemisphere but when I'm in the other the light shines on. Nice write

Thanks S. Yes, only about a week to go, and it starts getting lighter again.
Unfortunately one church did not have a Hymnal, and hardly know what a hymn book is. It's 'Choruses', sometimes of poor quality I think. And not even bothering to have different songs for about 3 weeks in a row. Partly why I left that church. Plus 'money matters' - say no more of that!

        Good one Orchi.
