Love Letters
She would read him at night
in the dark
until her eyes, they did ache so ..
And her tears,
beneath the quilt, fell like rain
yet still somehow
each one of them tasted familiar ..
Like the ocean,
she thought, that long ago dared
to take him ..
But what made it worse though
was she could never
be certain, those candles she
burned day and night ..
Would be seen from the beach
and the treacherous swell
it had always been known for
and even beyond there and further
through the remnants
of now faded lace curtains ..
Once a gift, on her wedding day
almost forty or so, very long years ago ..

What a tenderly penned story your words conjour today of the sad wait for candles to light her man home and meanwhile reading love letters he perhaps wrote - - heart-warming indeed Nev, - - - - and so weird that we chose to post similar subjects again....................x
thank you our Fay .. I must confess, I have tinkered with this little scribble somewhat since your kind and much appreciated visit .. x
Wonderful!
I could feel those words of the love letters in my heart.
.. thank you my boy .. muchly appreciated young man 🙂
A good writing .. I can read the sadness in the words .. nicely expressed and I like the use of nature in this one
Thank you dear VB .. I am honoured & truly ....... Neville 🙂
'it had always been known for
and even beyond there and further
through the remnants
of now faded lace curtains ..'
the yearning in this tender write, is so poignant Hyung
(most of us
lack the belief to pray
this days
so we hide our hope
and whisper our wishes
to our heart's
collectively
title these as our lullaby's of life
when right by our side
another is doing the same
shoulder to shoulder
yearning for help, or
waiting to help
yet questing life, deaf
to each other's
words..
and this
be the fate for the lucky few
who find another
rest of us
are serenaded by lonesome's
hollowness
and told to accept, our lowly
place in fate's priorities
a population of 8 billion
where heroes are the minority
and born, victims
by the second, aplenty)
Cheers Bro ................. but gotta go 🙂
right?! so true
lol
Happy New Year Hyung
A candle burns bright, as does the memory of every word indelibly written on the heart. Such a love never dies when we keep it alive. You tell a sad tale with such tenderness and compassion, beautifully done my friend!
Thank you again Bella, your support throughout the year has been heart-warming & always gratefully received .. I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you again & to wish you & yours a contented, peaceful yet joyous & healthy Christmas & a blessed 2023 .. 🙂 x
And to you my friend I send thanks for all you've done to encourage and inspire me. Your compassion, honesty and sincerity are evident in all that you write. Coming to this site has been a revelation for me. It has opened up a world of beauty and imagination through the eyes of others, that I never thought to experience at this late age. Wishing you in return a very Happy Christmas, and looking forward to all the wonderful words that will swirl into wonderful poems in a bright New Year. God Bless
Another tale about me and KP. About 2 years married to her feels like 40 years of marriage to me! lol.
Believe me, 40 years is nowt & passes in the blink of an eye when one is blessed .. Be blessed Steven, not only this Christmas, but beyond ............................ Neville
