Tune & Hymn 'The First Nowell'

Luke 1 v.76-79

*********

Announcing news of glad tidings

Message of joy heaven's host brings

Christ, in Bethlehem true His birth

The Son of God come down to earth

Chorus

John, the prophet of the Highest

The Christ-child, He for ever blest

Zacharias, John's father he

Prophesied of how it would be

John would go before the Lord' face

To prepare His ways, truth and grace - Chorus

To give knowledge of salvation

To His people of each nation

By the remission, forgiveness

Of their sins, great comfort is this - Chorus

It be through the tender mercy

Of our God, whereby Dayspring free

From on high has visited here

The Dawn, Messiah does appear - Chorus

He gives light to them that do sit

In darkness, and too path be lit

For those in the shadow of death

Who, as it were, near final breath - Chorus

And to guide our feet into way

Of peace, and give us light each day

Let earth Him praise, rejoice and sing

Welcome, our Lord, Saviour, and King - Chorus

Thanks BC. Yes, Dayspring is a fine metaphor, I think. I've included the alternatives too - Dawn, Messiah.
