Tune: Contemplation
('When all they mercies, O my God')
Psalm 123
*********
Unto you I lift up my eyes
You who rule earth, seas, skies
You who dwell in heavens above
Look on us in your love
Behold, as eyes of servants look
To masters, not forsook
And as eyes of maid to mistress
Look, to desire they bless [them]
So our wyes look unto the Lord
Wait for Him and His word
The Lord our God, until that He
Merciful to us be
Have mercy on us, O Lord, plain
This sure be our refrain
In prayer to you, for we are low
And great oppressions know
For we are filled exceedingly
With contempt, our state be
Scorned of those who now be at ease
[The] Proud sleight us as they please

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. format. Also in memory of SC, who passed away 15 years ago on this day, ages only 33. He wanted to become a millionaire I think, but overdid it sadly. Let's take one day at a time, trusting in God's mercy and grace. He was a former member of a youth group that I assisted in leading. A bit of a wild child, but he calmed down, got married and had a family - then tragedy.
