Pentecost Preaching

orchidee

Tune: Wolvercote

(one tune to 'O Jesus I have promised')

Acts 2 v.14-21

*********

Peter at Pentecost did preach

To all nations did reach

When the Spirit came then there

They all in Him did share

It was prophecy fulfilled

Of Joel, as God has willed

That He would pour out freely

His Spirit on us, see

And your sons and daughter

Prophesy, this know well

And young men, women, visons

Shall see, smoothly each run

And old men, women, dream dreams

Enlightened by light's beams

Even to servants, handmaids

The Spirit poured, displayed

And they too shall prophesy

High and low, no deny

And the Lord will show wonders

Heaven, earth, active stirs

Wonders in heaven, and signs

In the earth, all aligns

With His purposes, vapour

Of smoke, blood, fire concur

The sun shall turn to darkness

And moon shine blood-red, yes

Before that great, notable

Day of the Lord to all

Shall appear, yet they who call

On Him be saved, not fall

The coming of the Spirit sure

Abides now evermore

A spirit-filled verse when prophesy fulfilled people saw visions and gladly talked about it.
