Let’s go back
Back to when it wasn’t so intense
When every word wasn’t second-guessed
When love wasn’t so grotesque
Let’s go back
To when I couldn’t believe my luck
That I finally found someone worth it
When our hearts just fit
Let’s skip this agonizing part
Let’s skip the slow-building tension
The fights every damn night
The feeling of falling apart
Let’s skip this part
Or rewind to the beginning
But instead we’re stuck
Stuck in this cycle of destruction
This vicious circle of no hope or redemption
The lack of forgiveness and crushing pressure
Where depression waits in leisure
Stuck -
Stuck like a bee in honey
A deer in a stream
A wasp in my skin
An arrow in my heart
You say I’m selfish
I say I’m myself
You call me a wicked
Well, maybe it can’t be fixed
You say I’m too strong
Too independent
Too inflexible
Too much
What if you’re too little?
You say the end is impossibly far
I see it on the horizon, impossibly close
You say we’re stronger together
I say we’re stuck on the horizon

- Comment from author about the poem: Have you ever fallen out of love or rather your heart is in love, but you know it is unhealthy? This is my most recent poem and deviates from my poetic voice quite dramatically, but I feel like it fits the mood of this poem. Let me know if you have ever had this feeling.

I love this poem, thanks for having the courage of sharing such intimate emotions. I feel like love can be such an unpredictable and rambunctious child. The way you worded this was precise.
Thank you very much.
