Tune: Binchester
('Happy are they, they that love God')
*******
Only you, Lord God, know all things
Whate'er life daily brings
Humans you have made, but they not
Know all, that not their lot
But you give wisdom and knowledge
We may your presence sense
Spiritual knowledge be the best
Compares not with the rest
Yet you give wisdom for each day
Practicalities' way
Common sense, not to foolish be
But you the time wisely
In you are hid all the treasures
Of wisdom, fine pleasures
All the treasures of knowledge too
You do our minds renew
Be pleased to reveal treasures hid
In prayer we beseech, bid
You, that humbly what we do know
Use for good, and live so

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. format. In a book which overdid jargon a bit, sometimes nearly whole sentences were in jargon-form. More than half of it is common sense really. The Department of the B******* Obvious, as one newspaper column used to be called - still is? Well, Fido knows 99% of everything, but not 100%. lol.
