The music comes on and takes me back,
Back to that wonderful time
And I start singing with these songs,
These songs of the fifties and sixties,
Songs whose words I know so well.
My ability to remember them is vast,
But why is it they so very much exceed,
Exceed the reason why I walked,
The reason why I walked into the kitchen.

- Comment from author about the poem: I seem to know the words of all the songs of the fifties and sixties and when I hear them played I sing along with them - now what day is it today!

Good write Gold.
Thanks Orchi.
Play it loud enough to drown me out. If not, Fido will howl loud enough to drown me out!
many of them are unforgettable aren't they Andy 🙂
They certainly are Neville and you can HEAR the words unlike many songs of the latest era.

Are indeed, Andy - Especially Buddy H’s.
So recent – word in topic: Brumas. Word hadn’t passed through my conscious mind for seventy years, yet segment on Antiques Roadshow about stuffed polar bear toy bought it to mind ahead of it’s mention there. Yet can I remember the name of my next-door neighbor most days?
Now why did I come into this kitchen….perhaps it’s yours and not mine????
Memory can have a strange effect on us sometimes Dave. Thank you for your comments.
