Wasted Love

Tayama

I thought you could never love me.

I should not have thought.

I should have done what you said to do.

Just love me.

My thoughts of you were dark from the start.

For to see light in your eyes, would just crush my heart.

Your sudden tears always took me by surprise

Yet my reactions were always feigned.

For it wasn't what I did, just what I never could do.

Love you.

What we deny for we deem ourselves as unworthy...

Is the contradiction of love.

For when we surrender to it, we become what we thought we could never be.

Loved. And you loved me.
