Tune: Engelberg
('All praise to thee, for thou, O King divine')
Adapted from 'Prayer to God the Father
by St Macarius The Great, 300-391AD.
***********
Eternal God, King of all creation
Who had brought me to this hour, staion
Forgive me sins today of thought, word, deed
In your grace my prayers heed
Cleanse, O Lord, my humble soul from all ill
Defilements of flesh, spirit, that may still
Be within me, and grant me peace this night
Keep me safe in your sight
That when I rise in the morning I may
Please your most holy name throughout the day
With your power conquer the sinful things
My flesh life to me brings
Deliver me, O Lord, from thoughts that vain
And frivolous be, which no progress gain
And from evil desires defend me, you
Father, Son, Spirit true

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 10.10.10.6 format. An extra 'Hallelujah' may have sneaked in, in each verse in the video. I shall be OK (verse 4) - Fido don't let me have any 'frivolity' either. He chucks buckets of cold water over me if I feel frivolous with KP. lol.
